How it works:
Through our support of Plastic Bank, we fund the collection of single-use plastics in Indonesia, Egypt, Haiti, Brazil & The Philippines. Collection points have been set up in these countries where locals can exchange recyclable plastic for cash or tokens towards household goods. This gives plastic waste new value which reduces the flow of plastic into dumps, rivers and oceans. The plastic collected is later recycled and turned into new products (like our RPET cord) creating a circular economy.
Peanut's story:
Our feature charm was inspired by a real turtle named Peanut. As a baby turtle, she became entangled in a six-pack ring which was carelessly discarded. During development, her body was unable to break the plastic, giving her a disfigured hourglass shape. Fortunately little Peanut was saved and has led a long happy life.
This pendant carries an important message that even a single piece of litter can irreparably change a life. We must not let Peanut's plight be in vain.
